During Covid-19

Covid-19 saw the closing of all exercise classes held in village and town halls leaving many older people without a means to exercise and socialise. The Holsworthy Community Developer identified a cluster of seated exercise classes and discussed with the instructor the possibility of people doing exercise in their own homes if equipment and instruction leaflets where provided. Funding was sourced from Active Devon to provide 50 individuals with exercise bands and balls. Instruction sheets were printed, laminated and added to the pack. The packs were delivered to individual homes by the instructor and volunteers. Although people are still needing to exercise in their own homes rather than in a group they now have the opportunity to rebuild muscle strength ready for when the classes can restart. Individuals also have their personal equipment once classes recommence, preventing cross contamination.
