Exciting opportunities for budding and existing social enterprises!

The School for Social Entrepreneurs is offering two Devon Social Entrepreneurs Programmes for social enterprises (a business or organisation that trades for a social purpose): one for start ups and one as an accelerator for existing organisations.  Stir to Action, are offering Founders for the Future, enabling to people aged 18-30 to start co-ops and community businesses.

1. Devon Social Entrepreneurs Start Up Programme 

  • A four-month intensive entrepreneurship programme for start-up social enterprises, charities and community businesses.  
  • The programme runs over 4 months (11 days in total), starting late March 2022 and includes practical learning, 1-2-1 coaching and a supportive Devon network. 
  • Successful applicants will secure a match trading grant up to £5,000 
  • To apply: 
    • Your project or idea is less than two years old.
    • You and most of your clients, customers or beneficiaries are based in Devon.
    • You are looking to set up an organisation with a social purpose.
    • You have a plan to either start trading or increase trading in the next six months.

2. Devon Social Entrepreneurs Accelerator Programme 

  • A four-month intensive entrepreneurship programme for more established social enterprises, charities and community businesses.  
  • The programme runs over 4 months (11 days in total), starting late March 2022 and includes practical learning, 1-2-1 coaching and a supportive Devon network. 
  • Successful applicants will secure a match trading grant up to £15,000
  • To apply: 
    • Your project or organisation is over two years old and has been trading for at least one year.
    • You and most of your clients, customers or beneficiaries are based in Devon.
    • You are looking to grow the impact and income from trading of your social impact organisation/social enterprise/social venture in the next six months.

3. Founders for the Future, by Stir to Action.

  • A three-month programme of workshops, residentials, 1:2:1 consultancy, study visits, and a business fair
  • Up to £1,000 start up grant
  • Connections to experts, peers and networks in the world of co-operative enterprise.
  • For people:
    • aged 18-30 years old based in Devon.
    • with new enterprise ideas that work toward a sustainable future for Devon’s local economy.
    • who can commit 21 days to the programme from 22 March to 13 June 2022.
    • who are passionate or curious about the power of cooperation and the benefit of working with others.
  • Priority will be given to those who are currently economically inactive or unemployed.

There is no cost to participating in any of these programmes. 

The programme and attached funding will support enterprises working in community food, community housing and community wellbeing. However, eligibility is not limited to these areas of focus.

The priority areas for funding are rural Devon, specifically Torridge and West Devon, and individuals and organisations in the South Hams, North Devon and Mid Devon are also eligible to apply. Unfortunately on this occasion applications cannot be accepted from Exeter, Teignbridge, or East Devon.
