Ian Godfrey has been supporting us at TTVS through the running of our Tai Chi groups for 8 years!
For the last Tai Chi session of 2023, Ian and his group decided to raise money for the Pickwell Foundation, they raised an amazing £130 on the day! This money was presented to, James Lewis from the Pickwell Foundation.
For the past 8 years the Pickwell Foundation has worked to support displaced people, and has been a passionate driver to finding ways to support refugee families through their Community Sponsorship Scheme. They recruit, train and support 13 groups of volunteers who have either welcomed, or are in the process of welcoming, refugee families through this Scheme and they also employ a specialist team of people providing casework and wrap-around support to Ukrainian guests welcomed into North Devon and Torridge via the Homes for Ukraine Scheme. Last year they stepped up to offer volunteer-led support to over 150 people seeking asylum in a North Devon Hotel via the Dispersal Scheme and since October 2023, a team has been set up to help 18 Afghan families rebuild their lives here in North Devon. So far 9 of those families have been welcomed.
We are so proud that we could support this! But even prouder to everyone involved, great work!
